Fire Island National Seashore: A Historic Partnership
Friends of Carrington proudly partners with Fire Island National Seashore (FINS) to preserve the only LGBTQ+ residence on the National Registry within the entire National Park system.
FINS has embraced our mission, recognizing the Carrington House as a cultural gem worthy of joining the Seashore's premier attractions—the Fire Island Lighthouse, Sunken Forest at Sailors Haven, Watch Hill, and the William Floyd Estate.
Park Service staff affectionately call the property "Alaska" for its remarkable remoteness and natural beauty—the same special isolation that once provided Frank Carrington and his guests the perfect creative sanctuary.
Together, we're adding a vital new chapter to the National Park Service's story, one that celebrates the full diversity of American cultural heritage.
